Bihar SSC Matasya Prasar Padadhikari/Paryavekshak Fisheries Syllabus & Pattern

Bihar Staff Selection Commission (SSC) organise various recruitments for different fields through an written exam paper. The recruitment exam of Matasya Prasar Padadhikari (Officer) and Matasya Prasar Paryavekshak (Supervisor) in Animal and Fishing Resources (Fisheries) Department has to be prepared by the applicants for the exam. Exam type- Written Exam (MCQs)

Exam Total Time- 135 Minutes

NOTE: For every right answer, 4 marks will be given and for wring answer, 1 mark will be deducted

The question paper of exam will be made available in both English & Hindi

The topics which are included are- Fin fish & shell fish anatomy and its various aspects of biology, Classification and taxonomic characteristics of cultivable fisheries, crustaceans and moll uses, Fresh water and pond ecosystem, Population dynamics, fish stock, Culture & Capture fisheries resources of Bihar & present status along its present production of fish and fish seed via-a-via supply & demand abundance methods and analysis, Conservation and management of fishery resources,  Impact of over exploitation and climate change on fisheries resources

Fish aquaculture

The questions will be asked on the fish aquaculture topics which will include the following topics to be read in details-

  • Ornamental fish breeding and its culture
  • Types of fish culture
  • Capture and culture fisheries in low lying water bodies
  • Induced spawning methods and seed production, natural fish seed collection and rearing methods
  • Preparation and management of fresh water and brackish water fishponds
  • Cultivable species identification, introduction of exotic fishes in India
  • Types of eggs and development of larval stages of fin fishes and shellfishes
  • Culture methods: Pen and cage culture practices, carp and shrimp hatchery management, basis aspects of biotechnology & genetics in relation to fisheries
  • Fish disease and its control
  • Reproduction and breeding behavior in fishes and shellfishes, brood stock improvement maturity and fecundity studies

 Ecology

In this section, the candidates need to prepare the following topics-

  • Knowledge on Important limn logical and biological parameters in relation to fisheries of lotic and lentic waters, biological productivity and its impact on fisheries
  • Read about Environmental impact assessment on fisheries in both lentic and lotic waters
  • Biological parameters (energy flow, biodiversity and its conservation, community ecology and aquatic association, aquatic pollution and its management)
  • Ecology of water bodies

Harvest With Post- harvest technology.

The candidates need to study the topics such as under this section-

  • Canning and packaging techniques, processing and product development techniques
  • Knowledge of Boat building material and demerits of wood, steel, aluminum, Ferro cement and FRP
  • Common crafts & gears used
  • Fibres of different types with netting materials and their characteristics,
  • Food chemistry, fundamentals of microbiology
  • General methods of fish preservation and fishery by products

Fisheries economics, extension & statistics

  • How to maximize Profit
  • Introduction- Fishery economics and study the concepts of cooperative, marketing and banking management
  • Hatchery management and fish culture operations- Supply v/s demand economics
  • Problems in estimating costs
  • Fisheries extension methods
  • Training and education needs in fisheries
  • Communication concepts, Modern tools of fishery extension education
