**UNIT I: Number Systems**

Real Numbers: Euclid’s division lemma, Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, irrationality of √2, √3, √5, decimal expansions, terminating/non-terminating recurring decimals

**UNIT II: Algebra**

**For Term 1**

Polynomials: Zeros of polynomial, Relationship between zeros & coefficients of quadratic polynomials, problems on division algorithm for polynomials

Pair of Linear Equations In Two Variables: Pair of linear equations in two variables & their graphical solution, Geometric representation, Algebraic conditions, pair of linear equations in two variables by substitution, elimination and cross multiplication method.

**For Term 2**

Quadratic Equations: ax^{2}+bx+c=0 (a ≠ 0), Solution of the quadratic equations-

- Factorization
- Completing the square
- Using quadratic formula

Arithmetic Progressions: Finding the nth term and Sum of first n terms with their real time applications

**UNIT III: Geometry**

Triangles

**For Term 2**

Circles: Proving of the statements below-

- Tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact
- Lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to circle are equal

Constructions: Division of a line segment in a given ratio, Tangent to a circle from a point outside it, Triangle construction similar to a given triangle.

Values (with proofs) of the trigonometric ratios of 30°, 45° and 60°, Proof & applications of the identity sin2A + cos2A = 1, ratios of complementary angles.

**For Term 2:**

Heights & Distances: Simple & believable problems on heights and distances, Angles of elevation / depression should be only 30°, 45°, 60°

**Unit V: Statistics & Probability**

**For Term 1**

Statistics: Mean, median, mode, Cumulative frequency graph.

**For Term 2**

Probability: Definition, Simple problems on single events, not using set notation.

**UNIT VI: Coordinate Geometry**

**For Term 2**

Lines in two-dimensions: Graphs of linear equation, Geometrical representation of quadratic polynomials, Distance between two points and section formula (internal), Area of a triangle.

**UNIT VII: MENSURATION**

**For Term 2**

Areas Related To Circles: Area, perimeter, circumference of a circle, sectors, segments In calculating area Only central angles 60°, 90° and 120° are included in area calculation, Plane figures involving triangles, simple quadrilaterals and circle.

Surface Areas & Volumes: Surface areas & volumes of cubes, cuboids, spheres, hemispheres and right circular cylinders/cones, Frustum of a cone, converting one type of metallic solid into another and other mixed problems
