IOF Dum Dum Syllabus- LDC,Stenographer,MTS,Cook,Motor Driver Exam Pattern

Indian Ordnance Factory, Dum Dum written exam for recruitment of posts-

  • Teacher Primary
  • Stenographer
  • Storekeeper
  • Durwan
  • Fireman
  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
  • Cook
  • Multi Tasking Staff (MTS)
  • Civilian Motor Driver (Ordinary Grade)

The recruitment process contains the written test for the posts followed by the respective skill test. IOF Dum Dum Syllabus & exam Scheme for each post can be checked from below-

Exam pattern: The details of scheme of exam for each paper is described below-

  • Teacher Primary (PRT): Written exam is of objective type and 3 hours are given to complete it. There are 2 sections of exam-

Part 1: English (25 marks), Hindi (25 marks)

Part 2: Current Affairs (25 marks), Reasoning Ability (25 marks), General Science & General Math (100 marks) {Only evaluated if Part 1 is qualified}

  • Stenographer: Written exam is objective type paper for which 2 hours are given. There are 3 parts of the exam.

Part 1: General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks)

Part 2: General Awareness (50 marks)

Part 3: English Language (100 marks)

NOTE: There is negative marking in the exam (25%)

Followed by exam, is a Skill test (dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 80 w.p.m)

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC): Written test of objective type is conducted for which 2 hours are given and the subjects included are-

Part I: General Intelligence (50 marks)

Part II: English Language (50 marks)

Part III: Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)

Part IV: General Awareness (50 marks)

NOTE: There is negative marking in the exam (25%)

Typing test is conducted followed by written exam- English Typing speed: 35 words per minute and Hindi typing speed: 30 words per minute on Computer. For Visually handicapped candidates (with 40 % disability and above) will be provided passage dictators for the typewriting test by the factory / unit in exam.

  • Storekeeper: Written test is conducted which has MCQs and 2 hours are given to solve this paper.

Part 3: Quantitative Aptitude (50 marks)

Part 4: General Awareness (50 marks)

Followed by exam will be a physical test.

  • Cook (Canteen): Written test of objective type will come in the 2 hours exam which will have 2 parts-

Part 1: General Cooking (50 marks)

Part 2: General Awareness (25 marks)

Part 3: General Intelligence (25 marks)

After the written exam, is a skill test for candidates

  • Durwan: Written Test will contain MCQs and 2 hours will be given to complete the exam-

  • Multi-Tasking Staff: Objective type written paper will come in the exam for which 2 hours will be given.

  • Civilian Motor Driver: Written test (objective type) is conducted for the candidates and they are given 2 Hours to complete the exam.

Part 3: General Driving Awareness (50 marks)

Followed by exam is an skill test of 100 marks

  • Fireman: Objective Type paper of 2 hours will come in the exam and It will include-

Part 1: General Intelligence (50 marks)

Part 2: General Awareness (50 marks)

Part 3: General Awareness on Fire Fighting (50 marks)

After written exam, is a physical test.

Exam Syllabus:

General English: This will include the grammar section (Articles/Determines, Prepositions, Verbs, Adjectives, Tenses, Modals, idioms & phrases, Active/Passive, Indirect/ Direct), Writing section (Letter Writing, Essay writing, Speech), Antonym & Synonyms, Punctuations, mis spelt words, correct usage

General Hindi: Same as English, this will include the questions from Grammar, Writing section and comprehension skills.

General Knowledge/ Current Affairs: The candidates need to have the general sense of knowledge for the different fields- Economy, social, political, historical, geographical, railways, sports, entertainment, new policies, new scientific researches, important dates & events, awards & honors, languages, books, capital, currency.

Reasoning/ General Intelligence: Questions will be asked from spatial visualization, problem solving, analysis, visual memory, analogies, similarities and differences, observation, relationships, arithmetical number series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, judgment, spatial orientation, decision making

General Science: All the chapters studied till class 10th are covered in the exam- Living world, Human Body, Plant Life, Natural Vegetation & Wild Life, Food, The Universe, Matter, Basic structure of atom, Radioactivity, gases and liquids, Hydrocarbons, Chemical and physical changes, photo synthesis, Motion, Force, inertia, momentum, acceleration, action and reaction forces

General Maths: The basics of Maths studied till elementary level- Number System, conversions of units of length & mass, Multiples, HCF and LCM, Integers, Fractions, percentages, profit & loss, work & time, velocity & distance, simple & compound interest, binomials, polynomials, algebra, linear equation, quadratic equation, Basic geometrical, Areas & volumes, bars & charts

 Quantitative Aptitude:  Arithmetic, Areas & Volumes, Number Systems, Percentage, Ration and proportion, Boats & Streams, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Single and Compound), Trains problems, Profit & Loss, Discount, Mixture &Allegation, Time & Distance, Time & Work, Probability, bars & Charts, trigonometry

General Cooking: The candidates will be tested on general things to be considered while cooking.

Fire Fighting Knowledge: The test will include questions on knowledge of Firefighting- uses, impacts, equipments, precautions etc.
