OPSC Civil Services Syllabus & Exam Pattern 2016 is being described below as per which you can prepare for the exam. There is a proper selection criteria by which the candidates are selected for the post. In this exam, candidates are allowed to attempt the paper 4 times; SC & ST candidates have no limit for the same. The selection criteria for the exam includes the Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Personality Test/ Interview. The full details of each section can be checked from below and prepared.
OPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern: For Preliminary Exam, the details are given below. This test is just a screening test and the marks obtained in this paper will not be added into the final merit.

Followed by written exam, Interview conducted is of 250 marks in which the questions will be asked in general sense.
OPSC Civil Services Syllabus: For Preliminary Exam-
Paper 1 (General Studies I): The questions will be asked on general topics- important dates & events, current affairs of India & World, History, geography, political science, economics, environmental ecology, bio diversity, climate change etc.
Paper 2 (General Studies II): The questions will be asked in analytical manner like- comprehension passages, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, mental ability, charts & graphs, English language etc.
For Mains Exam-
Odia/ English Language: The questions will be asked from grammar section of language which includes- noun, verb, adjective, adverb, idioms, proverbs, subject verb agreement, speech, narration etc. Followed by it is vocabulary section which includes word meanings, antonyms, synonyms etc. The basic purpose is to check the ability of candidates in local languages.
For General Studies I & General Studies II: The syllabus tends to remain same for both papers as prelims but the level of difficulty can vary.
As per the optional subject you have chosen you need to prepare for Mains exam.
