Exam Pattern: For Preliminary Exam,
- Exam Type: MCQs (Objective)
- Total Marks: 200 marks
- Total Time: 3 Hours
For Mains Exam,
- Exam Type: Descriptive
- Total Marks: 200 marks for written exam and 100 marks for practical
- Total Time: 3 Hours for written exam and 1 Hour for practical
Exam Syllabus: For Preliminary Exam, the questions will be asked from- General Science, Current Affairs (National & International), Indian History & World History, Indian Geography & World Geography, Legal Glossary, Legal History, Knowledge of Uttarakhand (History, Geography, Economy & Polity Based), Constitution of India, Computer Science & its Applications
For Mains Exam, the syllabus differs for the different posts-
Assistant Review Officer (ARO)
English & Hindi Language: The basic understanding of English is tested- vocabulary (Word, Phrases, Synonyms, Opposites), grammar sections (noun, verb, adjectives, adverbs, preposition, idioms, speech, narration), letter writing, essay writing, précis writing
Followed by this is a practical paper which is typing test- 9000 key depression per hour in English language.
Assistant Librarian
A Compulsory paper is part of selection which will have questions from community/ organization, administration, catalogue, Bibliography, Information services etc.
Another paper will be optional paper from following 3-
- Advanced Practical Administration of Public Library Service
- Special Libraries and Information Centre’s
- Academic or National Libraries
Third Paper, will be of computers practical
Typist
English/ Hindi: The basic understanding is tested- vocabulary (Word, Phrases, Synonyms, Opposites), grammar sections (noun, verb, adjectives, adverbs, preposition, idioms, speech, narration), letter writing, essay writing, précis writing
Practical Computer test will be conducted followed by written exam.
Translators
Hindi/ English: The questions will be asked from comprehension passages and questions following it have to be answered, summary writing, sentence transformation, corrections, idioms, phrases, vocabulary, basic grammar. Each section in exam has marks distribution of 10 to 15 marks.
Translation and Drafting: The questions will be asked to translate English to hindi or vice versa. Letter writing to current affairs is asked in exam. Précis writing of a given passage in one third words, Essay in English writing is asked in exam.
Computer Practical Exam will be conducted which will be qualifying nature exam. This will contain MS office questions, Internet, Windows and all basics.
